DHW Naloxone Distribution Program Update

New Naloxone Distribution Updates

Kootenai County Fire & Rescue has been awarded the opportunity to restart Idaho's naloxone distribution program.

Since the temporary pause in April 2023 due to HB350, IDHW's Division of Behavioral Health, the Division of Public Health, and others have been crafting a plan to restart naloxone distribution while meeting new legislative conditions.

Here's what you need to know:

  • KCFR is working to renew supply relationships and evaluate orders submitted since April. Orders under 200 units are expected to be filled in mid-December, and larger orders are expected to take longer.
  • KCFR is currently only able to offer Narcan 4mg intranasal spray devices and trainers, with training available through your local Health District.

Thank you for your patience and support as we return this vital resource to our communities.
